Kyle Van Sant

Electrical Engineering student at Stanford University interested in robotics, embedded systems, and intelligent hardware. I enjoy designing and building systems that combine electronics, software, and mechanical components to interact with the physical world.

Humanoid Robotics

Worked through Stanford Student Robotics to develop and deploy humanoid behaviors on the Booster K1, from simulation and motion imitation to live demonstrations such as dancing and football throwing.

ShotBot

ShotBot is a stair-climbing delivery robot developed through Stanford Moonshot Club. I led a four-student team through the design and prototyping process, with the goal of creating a compact robot capable of reliably navigating stairs while carrying deliveries.

Stanford Solar Car Project

Stanford Solar Car is a student engineering team that designs and builds solar-powered race vehicles. I contributed to the electrical team through PCB design and vehicle integration work, helping develop the electronics that support the car’s battery systems.

SPLASH (In Progress)

SPLASH is a camera-guided pan-tilt water turret I’m building to detect people and automatically aim a water stream. The project combines a Raspberry Pi AI Camera, STM32-based control, and a custom PCB for power distribution and actuation. Development is ongoing as I complete board reviews, prepare to test the mechanical assembly, and begin bringing the vision system to life.

Stanford ESW Tree Trackers

A Stanford Engineers for a Sustainable World project in collaboration with Tropenbos Ghana that uses satellite-derived vegetation data and an interactive dashboard to monitor reforestation progress.

Mini Projects

These smaller projects gave me room to experiment with electronics and turn ideas into working hardware. From an illuminated flower pot to a solar-powered phone charger and a jump-controlled LED game, each build helped me connect what I was learning with something I could test and share.
